School Based HPV Vaccination Program in Nepal
Nurse Soni Srestha delivering the HPV vaccine.
We have been managing a school based vaccination program within the Kathmandu Valley and Kavre district adjoining the Valley.
We firstly educate school girls about cancer and how it can be prevented.
We then deliver the vaccine to girls aged 11-13 years with informed consent.
We have developed the program in several phases:

Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening and Prevention
Women await cervical cancer screening.
We have been increasing public awareness and providing cervical and breast cancer screening to the women of Nepal.
Since 2009 we have screened more than 30,171 women in the Kathmandu Valley while working in collaboration with INCTR/NNCTR Nepal.
Free full day cervical and breast cancer screening camps are provided to communities by a team of specialist nurses.
Results and necessary medications are provided free on the spot, and positive patients are referred for follow-up treatment at no cost.
NACCF backed cervical and breast cancer screening camps
In 2013, the NACCF was a successful recipient of a Direct Aid Program grant from the Australian Embassy Nepal allowing cervical cancer screening to begin under the umbrella of NACCF. Between December 2013 and February 2014 screening camps were run around Kathmandu, in the Makawanpur district and in the Terai region. These camps will continue, giving more women access to cervical and breast cancer screening services.
Awareness and Fundraising events
Australian Volunteers visit NACCF
In February 2011 NACCF happily hosted a team of Australian volunteers who came to Nepal to donate their time at our clinic! The team came to Banepa with energy and optimism to help us complete the construction of our clinic with both their manpower, as well as a significant fundraising effort back in Australia! The volunteers were put to work making cement and building pillars and when the physical activity became all too much (and electricity was on) it was time to enter cervical and breast cancer screening data into registration books and database software. The team were also able to attend one of our cervical and breast cancer screening camps in Sanga, Kavre, Nepal with our nursing staff screening 180 women on the day. NACCF extend heartfelt gratitude to the volunteer team. We hope they will always remember their time in Nepal, and hope to see them again soon! For more photos check our photo gallery! |
Fundraising
In 2010 our sister organisation, NNCTR successfully reached their goal of the Global Giving Challenge and raised $9,371. The money raised from this worthy cause was used to screen women in Nepal for cervical and breast cancer.
